Today you have a choice, you can listen to me waffle, or simply read the text below…
I have been searching for a long while to find a place that might host occasional textile and plant dye retreats (the farm I live on at present simply hasn’t the water security to cope with visitors, or the environment to grow the sort of dye and perfume garden I dream of). It appears that I’ve found it, but it will be auctioned in just a few days which makes confirming finance a little tricky.
So I am hoping this plan will work.
I've been working on my new course 'the geometry of gathering' on and off since the middle of last year (and it isn't completely done and dusted yet), but I have decided to offer you early enrolment, in the hope that it might just help me make the dream come true.
Every now and then something remarkable offers itself as a possibility and this past weekend it was brought to my attention that a piece of beautifully wild land with water security, a conservation forest on the hill behind it and a clearing at the heart where a perfume and dye garden could be established, has become available for sale.
The deadline is this Thursday morning (eek) and while I do have the resources to pay a deposit, the rest could be a bit tricky.
It would be the perfect location for textile and gardening retreats, a place to grow old in and gradually become one with the earth (or drift back up to the stars), bounded on two sides by streams and overlooking the sea.
So I am rather desperately hoping that enough of you might have sufficient confidence in me and what I have to offer that you would invest in a class a few months ahead of time to help me become custodian of this land.
Your support will mean the world to me and even if there aren’t enough enrolments to secure the property, you'll receive the course anyway as a result of your investment. I’m offering it at half price just for the next few days in the hope you’ll jump in.
If my wildest dreams are realised and there's enough interest in the course to make this extraordinary possibility come true, those of you who help it happen will also be on the 'tea-and-cakes' list and the gates will always be open for you to come visit and enjoy afternoon tea with me (I love making cakes).
Along with 'the geometry of gathering' I have also created a membership for those of you who have been hoping to seriously dive in at the deep end. It embraces no less than 8 courses and is undoubtedly the most economical means of immersing yourself in ecoprint magic and sustainable textile practices.
Find it here
I hope you don’t mind me sharing this here…and I hope I will be welcoming you to tea sometime in the next few years!!
PS I admit I am somewhat embarrassed to be asking for your support in this way, especially given the state of the world, but I console myself that at least I’m not just asking for a handout (my parents would never forgive me) and I trust you will not criticise me too harshly for this impertinence. But as they say in Latvia “drošam pieder pasaule” (fortune favours the brave).
Please tell your grandaughter that your friend, Freda, loves her drawing…sunshine, raindrops, butterflies and bees…everything a garden needs. Xxx
Oh Yeees...... India a big YES I Believe in this dream and wish to visit for Tea cake and textiles. Everything is crossed and I will speak out loud to the wind, earth, water and air to send the help your way. I have enrolled. x
